To date, we have restored over 328 stream miles, 58,024 wetland acres, and rehabilitated, preserved, and/or managed over 15,000 acres of special-status species habitats. RES operations include planting over 17,400,000 restorative trees and reducing over 267 tons of polluting nutrients. RES navigates and streamlines the environmental permitting process with solutions that balance economic development and ecological sustainability through the establishment of mitigation/conservation banks, permittee responsible turnkey mitigation, and corporate social responsibility projects.   The primary function of the Restoration Technician is to complete ecological restoration work in the field. This includes all aspects of restoration work such as planting, seeding, erosion control methods, brush cutting, prescribed burns, light equipment operation, herbicide application to control invasive species, and various other tasks.

RES is looking for applicants with prior experience in the ecological restoration field.  The job will consist of 100% field work ranging from invasive brush cutting, tree felling, planting, seeding, and maintenance of natural areas through equipment operations and herbicide application.   Work is seasonally steady and often will require over 50 hours per week. Some weekend work required during peak periods. Significant travel may be required for some projects throughout Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Michigan.  Travel with overnight stays of 2-6 night periods will be required for some job sites.

RES is currently accepting applications for the WI Water Quality Trading (WQT) Clearinghouse Program Administrator. The WQT Clearinghouse will be an innovative new framework to facilitate water quality trading in Wisconsin. The person in this position will have the opportunity to be in at the ground floor for the clearinghouse, working closely with many different stakeholders such as conservationists, producers, agronomists, and municipalities, to improve water quality in Wisconsin. Projects that can be implemented through the clearinghouse include, among others, streambank stabilization, wetland restoration and creation, cover crops and crop rotation on active agricultural lands, and introduction of sustainable dairy and manure management practices. The goal of the WQT Clearinghouse is to reduce barriers to entry for trading, increase trading as a solution for wastewater and stormwater compliance in Wisconsin, reduce nutrient loading in the State’s waters, and improve beneficial habitats.

RES is currently accepting applications for Regulatory Specialists with at least 5 years of experience in wetland and species regulatory permitting based out of either our Sacramento, CA or San Francisco, CA offices.   The mission: Resource Environmental Solutions (RES) is rapidly expanding our habitat restoration activities into the western states including California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and Idaho. The role will have a strong California focus, however, expansion of projects into other states may require navigating the permitting process in other Western Region states. You will be supporting the Regulatory Manager, Project Management team, and Ecology team in obtaining regulatory agency approvals for the implementation of projects, as well as, supporting project managers to establish mitigation and conservation banks. Duties will primarily focus on the preparation and processing of regulatory permit packages to support our growing list of restoration projects. Permits typically required for restoration projects include compliance with the Clean Water Act (CWA) and California Fish and Game Code (CFGC), and leading federal and state Endangered Species Act consultations. Field work will not be a focus, however prior experience in the field will help inform the decisions made during the regulatory permitting process. To be successful in this position and be able to grow you should be an independent thinker who enjoys solving complex problems and navigating the regulatory requirements associated with large-scale restoration projects within the western region. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills as aspects of this position include developing solutions for project challenges, forging strong collaborative relationships and building consensus among team members, staff, clients, and agencies. The successful candidate may provide other environmental services (such as botanical surveys, soil analyses, and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)/National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation preparation) depending on the expertise of the individual and potential project needs.

A DEPENDABLE work ethic in developing carbon project plans, deciding on optimal methods of carbon sequestration or abatement, facilitating credit registration processes, and forecasting projected carbon credit yield.
