Overview

RES is seeking a skilled and dedicated Nursery Technician to join our team. This position will report to our Brodhead, WI office.

 The primary responsibility of this role will be to efficiently pull orders of both plants and seeds, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely delivery to meet customer needs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for native seeds and plants, excellent organizational skills, and a strong work ethic.

The mission: The primary responsibility of this role will be to efficiently pull orders for plant stock during the Spring and Summer and to pull seed orders in the Winter, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely delivery to meet customer needs.

What your day-to-day might look like?

  • Order Fulfillment: Accurately pull plant and seed orders based on customer requests or internal sales orders. Ensure all items are carefully selected, inspected for quality, and properly labeled.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in managing inventory by aiding in occasional inventory counts, and notifying supervisors of any low-stock or out-of-stock items. Maintain accurate records of all orders.
  • Product Handling: Handle plants and materials with care, ensuring the proper treatment of plants during order fulfillment. Utilize appropriate tools and equipment to move and pack plants for shipping.  Carefully mix and package seed according to directions.
  • Shipping Preparation: Prepare and pack orders for shipment, ensuring all orders are properly secured and labeled for transportation. Follow shipping guidelines and customer specifications.
  • Quality Control: Inspect plants for pests, disease, or damage prior to fulfilling orders. Report any issues to the supervisor or nursery manager.
  • Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe. Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and stored properly.
  • Customer Service: Communicate effectively with supervisors and other staff to ensure customer satisfaction. Address any discrepancies or issues related to order fulfillment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the nursery and sales team to ensure the timely fulfillment of orders and alert supervisors to any issues quickly.

Qualifications

  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills. 
  • Ability to lift and move plants, supplies, and equipment.  Most weights will be under 25 lb. but occasionally up to 50.

What will make you stand out?

  • Basic knowledge of plant care and common species is desirable.
  • Previous experience in a horticultural or nursery setting is a plus, but not required.
