RES is looking for a Sr. Estimator with 5+ years of experience in civil construction. This position will be based out of our Houston, TX Creekmont office.

The mission: As a Sr. Estimator, you'll dive into the heart of our projects, crafting preliminary budgets, conceptual estimates, and detailed cost breakdowns that shape both private and public bid opportunities. You'll be the go-to expert in translating project visions into precise financial plans, playing a pivotal role in guiding our bids to success.

What your day-to-day might look like?

Experience a dynamic mix of activities every day! Dive into project documents to uncover crucial details and conduct thorough research to gather accurate cost data. Quantify project materials and perform precise calculations to prepare detailed bid packages. Engage in pre-proposal meetings and bid openings, bringing valuable insights and expertise to the table. Each day offers fresh challenges and opportunities to make a significant impact on projects and contribute to the team’s success!

The main tasks to execute are the following:

• Read and interpret construction plan sets, with an understanding of basic design concepts
• Build and establish relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
• Create material takeoffs and calculate quantities
• Incorporate future pricing trends within estimations
• Present estimates to management with clear explanations of how calculations were completed
• Prepare bid packages with support from PMO team.

We would like to talk to you if you have many of the following:

• Strong understanding of mathematical concepts relative to civil construction estimating such as: calculating quantities and productions, volume and area computations/conversions, cost estimation (forecasts utilizing unit costs, labor hours, equipment usage, and productions), budget analysis, risk assessment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• 5 years of experience in civil construction

• Ability to document all stages of calculations in civil construction estimates to ensure accuracy, provide clarity, and create a transparent record that supports project planning, execution, and future reference. 

• Experience in utilizing estimating software such as HeavyBid
• MS Office

What will make you stand out?

• BS/BA degree in civil construction OR Equivalent Estimating experiencing.
• Knowledge of Harris County Purchasing (Bonfire), Amtek (Civcast), Brazos Valley Marketplace (Ionwave), Sam.gov sites for bidding.
• Scheduling experience using Microsoft Project or P6.
• Established relationships with suppliers, engineers, contractors, subs and vendors in the Gulf Coast Region.
