Overview

RES is looking for a Regulatory Specialist II with at least 2 years of experience for our Sacramento, CA office.

 

The mission: RES is operating in a unique and young industry. You will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to shape it with your work! How? Armed with the knowledge of existing local, state, and federal environmental permitting processes, you will support the permitting processes with the agencies preparing permit applications and supporting documentation, and coordinating regulatory analyses and graphics with GIS.

What your day-to-day might look like?

80% of the time you will be working on permitting applications and project coordination. Working with our team consisting of project managers, ecologists, design, and construction managers, and GIS specialists, you will be drafting and compiling technical documents and reports in support of permitting applications for submittal to agency representatives. You will be applying your knowledge of local, state and federal permitting processes by ensuring applications include project-specific details and analysis to support a complete application and will be working closely with project managers to ensure project timelines are being met. In addition, you will be processing and interpreting ecological data, cultural resource information, construction methods and protocols, compliance measures and ecosystem restoration design plans to support your deliverables. Be ready to showcase your technical writing skills, as well as knowledge of data analysis and organization during the interview process!

20% of your time you will be participating in internal team meetings – at the office, you will be participating in team meetings discussing project progress, timelines, critical path tasks, and other topics relevant to entitling and permitting restoration and/or mitigation projects.

Qualifications

We would love to speak with you if you have many of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Ecology, Environmental Policy, Planning, or closely related field
  • 2+ years of experience in environmental permitting, jurisdictional determinations, and technical report writing
  • Knowledge of environmental policy and regulations including those under the Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 404/401, California Fish and Game Code and supporting documentation
  • Knowledge of endangered species regulations in California
  • Ability to interpret restoration design plans and other engineering design and details

What will make you stand out?

  • Experience conducting ecological assessments
  • Performing aquatic resource delineations, vegetation surveys and/or hydrological monitoring
  • Existing positive professional resource agency relationships
  • Master’s Degree in a Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or similar.

 

Salary: $80,000 - $100,000
