Overview

RES is currently looking for a Ecological Restoration Supervisor for our office in Huntley, IL

 

The mission: This position is approximately 10% at the RES field office, 90% in the field. The primary function of the Restoration Supervisor is to complete restoration work in the field and supervise Restoration Technicians. 

What your day-to-day might look like?

  • Fieldwork

    • Perform all aspects of restoration work, including planting, seeding, implementing erosion control methods, brush cutting, prescribed burning, herbicide application, and field repairs.
    • Handle various additional restoration tasks as required to ensure project success.

    Supervision and Coordination

    • Supervise Restoration Technicians (3 to 10 employees) to complete restoration tasks efficiently and safely.
    • Assign specific tasks to employees, coordinate activities for maximum efficiency, and assess the competence and abilities of team members.
    • Train employees in specific tasks, ensuring they understand company procedures and policies.
    • Coordinate and manage large teams of technicians and subcontractors during peak labor periods.

    Project and Record Management

    • Maintain project records, including Herbicide Application Data Forms and Post Burn Site Data Forms.
    • Record completed and pending work, turn in all required paperwork after work is finished, and communicate with Project Directors/Managers regarding billing and project progress.

    Equipment Maintenance

    • Maintain equipment logs and ensure all tools, vehicles, and equipment are documented and reported.
    • Coordinate repairs and maintenance with relevant personnel to ensure equipment is operational and safe for use.

Qualifications

We would like to talk to you if you have many of the following:

 

  • 3 years of experience in ecological restoration as a restoration technician. 
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid Pesticide License for Illinois.
  • Ability to obtain Federal Medical Card for DOT driving.
  • Strong Native and invasive plant identification knowledge.

What will make you stand out:

  • 1+ years of experience managing small to mid-sized crews.
  • Experience with client interfacing. 
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans / blueprints.
