Overview

RES is seeking an Entry-level Project Accountant to join our corporate accounting team, based in either our Houston, TX office or another specified location.

 

Initially, your role will involve supporting the Project Accounting Manager in their day-to-day tasks, with the potential to eventually oversee operations in four out of our eight regions. During your first 180-360 days, you will receive comprehensive training from two senior members of our project accounting team to ensure you are fully equipped for the role. Our team operates primarily from our Houston office, with a hybrid schedule, and occasionally travels to project sites to better understand the needs of field teams.

What your day-to-day might look like?

Your focus will be split between the following key areas:

  • Project Setup and Financial Documentation: Manage project setup and financial documentation, including record-keeping, expense transfers, and contract management within the accounting system.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis: Conduct financial reporting, analysis, and management communication, including monthly project checklist review, variance investigation, and ad hoc profitability reporting.
  • Customer Invoicing and Expense Management: Manage customer invoicing and project expense reconciliation, ensuring accurate billing and expense tracking.
  • Project Closure and Compliance. Facilitate project closure and ensure compliance by finalizing project accounts and providing necessary information for audits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • Previous accounting experience or keen interest in accounting
  • Passion for sustainability and the general field of work of RES
  • Curiosity and desire to learn – we will teach you the job.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capacity to meet deadlines.

 

What will make you stand out?

  • Previous experience in project-based industry
  • Familiarity with POC
  • Experience with NetSuite
