    RES is the nation’s largest and most experienced provider of ecological restoration and water resource solutions.     We are accepting applications for a Environmental Designer with 0-4 years of experience in our Warrenton, VA office.


    The desired candidate’s responsibilities would include, but are not limited to performing all aspects of stream related fieldwork, writing technical reports, collecting and organizing data, site assessments, support and development of stream restoration designs, and basic restoration plan development/production. The ideal candidate will have experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, 3-D design, natural channel design, fluvial geomorphology, field survey and data collection techniques, and environmental regulations.  Responsibilities would also include coordination with multi-disciplinary project teams and local jurisdictions.  The successful candidate will be an integral part of a diverse design team that is involved in all project aspects including land acquisition, design, permitting, construction, monitoring and maintenance.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • B.A. or B.S. in a science / engineering field (such as but not limited to biology, engineering technologies, environmental science or water resources, etc.)
    • Acceptable writing, communication, and computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) with attention to detail
    • Ability to coordinate and interact with teams of engineers and scientists.
    • Ability to travel to sites as needed; overnight stays occasionally required.
    • A flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs.


    Preferred Qualifications


    Experience with the following:

    • Curriculum or on the job experience with stream restoration, field data collection, water resources engineering, and hydraulic and hydrologic modelling
    • Knowledge of stream ecology, biology, and geomorphology
    • Knowledge of watershed hydrology, stream hydraulics, and sediment transport
    • AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, HEC-RAS or other hydrologic and hydraulic software
    • Basic Surveying (Level/Rod and/or Total Station familiarity)
    • Participating in a team environment effectively and efficiently
