    RES is the nation’s largest and most experienced provider of ecological restoration and water resource solutions. To date, we have restored over 294 stream miles and 58,000 wetland acres and conserved and preserved 9,100 acres of endangered species habitats. RES operations include planting over 14,000,000 restorative trees and reducing over 250 tons of polluting nutrients. RES ecological solutions enable a of balance economic development and ecological sustainability.


    RES is accepting applications for an Ecologist with 3-10 years of relevant work experience to provide broad environmental support to a team of environmental restoration and mitigation professionals in our Richmond, VA office.


    The desired candidate’s responsibilities would include performing all aspects of field work, collecting and organizing data, writing technical reports, and preparing permit applications.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 3-10 years of relevant work experience to provide broad environmental support to a team of environmental restoration and mitigation professionals 
    • B.S. in an environmental science related field (such as but not limited to ecology, forestry, botany, geology, soils, etc.)
    • Superior writing, communication, and computer skills (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
    • ArcGIS proficiency
    • Ability to effectively multi-task in order to meet project requirements and deadlines.
    • Ability to travel several days per month if necessary and flexible with unexpected changes in work schedule
    • A flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet project goals
    • Acceptable driving record
    • Positive attitude and team-centered approach to problem solving


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Direct experience with state and federal environmental regulations and permitting processes
    • Wetland delineation
    • Stream and wetland restoration design and construction
    • State and federal endangered species programs
    • AutoCAD proficiency
    • Leading field scientist/ecologist teams
