    RES is the nation’s largest and most experienced provider of ecological restoration and water resource solutions. To date, we have restored over 294 stream miles and 58,000 wetland acres and conserved and preserved 9,100 acres of endangered species habitats. RES operations include planting over 14,000,000 restorative trees and reducing over 250 tons of polluting nutrients. RES ecological solutions enable a of balance economic development and ecological sustainability.


    RES is accepting applications for an Ecologist with at least two years of relevant work experience to provide broad environmental support to a team of environmental restoration and mitigation professionals in North Texas, specifically at multiple mitigation sites located near Bonham, Texas associated with the Lower Bois d’Arc Creek Reservoir Project.


    The desired candidate’s responsibilities would primarily consist of monitoring construction and development of approximately 15,000 acres of preserved, restored and enhanced habitats including emergent, scrub/shrub and forested wetlands, upland native grasslands, upland forests, riparian forests, and restored streams.  Duties would also include support in restoration and monitoring additional sites in the North Central and East Texas as well as North Louisiana region. Tasks may include performing vegetation and hydrology monitoring, faunal surveys, completing datasheets, utilizing GIS to create maps, writing technical reports, property maintenance/surveillance, construction monitoring, and logistics support.



    • B.S. in ecology, environmental science, or related field (such as but not limited to botany, biology, wildlife biology, geology, forestry, soil science, etc.)
    • 2 or more years of experience conducting wetland delineations in Texas or Louisiana 
    • Ability to identify native flora in Texas and Louisiana
    • Eagerness to travel extensively
    • Experience working long hours outdoors
    • Ability to hike 10 miles in rough terrain with 25 lbs of equipment in inclement weather
    • Superior writing, communication, and computer skills (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
    • Ability to effectively multi-task in order to meet project requirements and deadlines
    • Flexiblity with unexpected changes in work schedule
    • Ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet project goals
    • Positive attitude and team-centered approach to problem solving
    • Acceptable driving record
    • Willingness to relocate

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • M.S. in ecology, environmental science, or related field
    • Experience identifying and describing hydric soils
    • ArcGIS proficiency
    • AutoCAD proficiency
    • Direct experience with state and federal environmental regulations and permitting processes, specifically, Clean Water Act regulations
    • Familiar with the 2008 Mitigation Rule, as well as various ecological functional assessment methods (including HGM, HEP and RGA)
    • Stream and wetland restoration design and construction experience
    • Experience identifying endangered species habitats
    • Knowledge of state and federal endangered species programs
    • Experience leading field scientist/ecologist teams
    • Experience with drone technologies
    • Willingness to live on or near project site near Bonham, Texas
