RES is the nation’s largest and most experienced provider of ecological restoration and water resource solutions. To date, we have restored over 180 stream miles and 40,400 wetland acres and conserved and preserved 6,100 acres of endangered species habitats. RES operations include planting over 11,000,000 restorative trees and reducing over 240 tons of polluting nutrients. RES navigates and streamlines the environmental permitting process with solutions that balance economic development and ecological sustainability.


RES is driving towards building a strong Human Resources organization to support our greatest asset: people. This position will help lead all aspects of Human Resources for the company. The position will report to the Chief Financial Officer and will assist the management team in making decisions related to employee matters.


The Human Resources- Director will be responsible for the design, implementation and administration of HR policies, programs and practices that support the business objectives, enhance the working environment, maintain the core values, and ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws.


A successful candidate will demonstrate a high degree of integrity and ethical behavior as well as a high energy and approachable nature, and be creative and proactive in coming up with solutions to issues facing the organization through rapid growth.


  • Develop and advise employees and managers on HR related policies, programs, and procedures
  • Investigate, make appropriate recommendations, and resolve employee relations issues
  • Coach supervisors and managers on handling employee issues
  • Administer and manage compensation and performance management systems
  • Provide oversight of benefits administration for employee benefits including medical, dental, etc.
  • Analyze and evaluate the need to update or change benefit plans in place to remain competitive in the market, while gauging financial impact to the organization
  • Oversee recruitment process and provide guidance to internal and external recruiters
  • Develop and maintain accurate job descriptions for all staff
  • Engage HR team to maintain employee records and handle all administrative tasks within the department
  • Establish robust processes for onboarding of new hires
  • Conduct training in leadership, compliance, benefits or other HR-related topics as well as arrange training needs for employee development
  • Research effectiveness of HR programs and propose improvements to improve human resources effectiveness and operations
  • Provide leadership on all employee matters and be an effective advisor to company leaders in corporate office and in regional business centers


  • Bachelor degree preferably in Business or Human Resources
  • PHR or SPHR certification is highly preferred
  • 10 or more years Human Resources Generalist with management experience at a large corporation with familiarity and experience with: recruiting, employee relations, compensation, benefits, payroll, training, employment law, safety, affirmative action, and employment equity programs
  • Experience with government contracting a plus
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability, poise, and professionalism to interact with senior management
  • Desire and ability to both work in a cross-functional team environment and manage a geographically diverse team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a drive to deliver outstanding results and a strong attention to detail
  • Passion for change and continuous improvement in processes and systems
  • Willingness to travel to other RES sites up to 20% of the time
  • Proficiency with MS Office required; must have the ability to run benefits, payroll and HR reports
