RES is the nation’s largest and most experienced provider of ecological restoration and water resource solutions. To date, we have restored over 180 stream miles and 40,400 wetland acres and preserved 6,100 acres of endangered species habitats. RES operations include planting over 11,000,000 restorative trees and reducing over 240 tons of polluting nutrients. RES navigates and streamlines the environmental permitting process with solutions that balance economic development and ecological sustainability.


RES is accepting applications for a Wetland Ecologist with at least two years of relevant work experience to provide broad environmental support to a team of environmental restoration and mitigation professionals in our Houston, TX office.


The desired candidate’s responsibilities would primarily consist of conducting wetland delineations in Texas and Louisiana.  Occasional tasks may include performing vegetation monitoring, faunal surveys, completing datasheets, utilizing GIS to create maps, writing technical reports, and/or preparing permit applications.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in ecology, environmental science, or related field (such as but not limited to botany, biology, geology, forestry, soil science, etc.)
  • 2 or more years of experience conducting wetland delineations in Texas or Louisiana 
  • Ability to identify native flora in Texas or Louisiana
  • Eagerness to travel extensively
  • Experience working long hours outdoors
  • Ability to hike 10 miles in rough terrain with 25 lbs of equipment in inclement weather
  • Superior writing, communication, and computer skills (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively multi-task in order to meet project requirements and deadlines
  • Flexiblity with unexpected changes in work schedule
  • Ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet project goals
  • Positive attitude and team-centered approach to problem solving
  • Acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. in ecology, environmental science, or related field
  • ArcGIS proficiency
  • Direct experience with state and federal environmental regulations and permitting processes, specifically, Clean Water Act regulations
  • Applying the 2008 Mitigation Rule, using the iHGM assessment method, and using other stream and wetland assessment methodologies
  • Stream and wetland restoration design and construction experience
  • Experience identifying endangered species habitats
  • Knowledge of state and federal endangered species programs
  • AutoCAD proficiency
  • Experience leading field scientist/ecologist teams
